Coverage of hospice care depended upon a physician’s certification that an individual’s life expectancy is six months or fewer if the illness runs its normal course.

Hospice Care may be considered if any one of the following conditions apply:

• You choose to forego any further testing or hospitalization and will allow the dying process to happen naturally.

• Activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and walking are too difficult.

• Symptoms are increasingly uncomfortable or difficult to manage.

• Pain is not well controlled.
